Watch List: 50+ Shows and Movies to Stream in November 2023

Spooky season is coming to an end and that means our streaming services are about to be chock full of holiday-themed romantic comedies and good old-fashioned family films. And we’re starting off strong this November with the Apple TV+ premiere of The Velveteen Rabbit, the fifth season of Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays, the premiere of Netflix’s Family Switch as well as Prime Video’s newest holiday romance EX-Mas… And if you’re not quite ready for all the festive content, CBC Gem has got you covered with the season 3 premiere of Bilal Baig’s Sort Of (which ends with this season) and their newest original comedy, I Hate People, People Hate Me. Read on for the full list of what we’re recommending on Apple TV+, CBC Gem, Crave, Disney+, Hayu, Netflix Canada and Prime Video in November 2023.

Fingernails (Premieres November 3)
Fingernails is a science fiction story from Greek director Christos Nikou about an institute that has set out to determine if romance is actually genuine. When Anna learns her love with Ryan is really true love thanks to the new technology, she begins to question its accuracy. As a result, she takes a job at the institute and that is when she meets Amir.
The Buccaneers (Premieres November 8)
The Buccaneers is a British period drama hitting Apple TV+ based on the novel by Edith Wharton. The story follows five beautiful and untamable daughters of America's new wealthy families in the 1870s. However, when they end up being sent to London to possibly find an aristocrat to fall in love with during the London Seasonal, the culture clash makes everything more difficult than it needs to be.
For All Mankind, Season 4 (Premieres November 10)
The previous season, set in the 1990s, follows the United States and the Soviet Union competing for supremacy in reaching Mars, believing that doing so would ensure victory in the dangerous space race. However, the situation becomes more complicated as the private sector expresses a strong desire to explore Mars free of the political constraints that govern national endeavors. The characters were left in a state of adversity in the Season 3 finale, and Season 4 is expected to depict their journey of picking up the pieces and moving forward.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Premieres November 17)
After the world-shattering revelation that monsters are real, two siblings follow in their father's footsteps to uncover their family's connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch.
Hannah Waddington: Home for Christmas (Premieres November 22)
In the special, Waddingham welcomes several guests to perform in her special, which will be recorded live in front of an audience. Waddingham is expected to perform festive holiday classics with a big band backing her up.
The Velveteen Rabbit (Premieres November 22)
Based on the beloved children's book by Margery Williams. The movie follows a seven-year-old boy named William who receives the Velveteen Rabbit for Christmas, and it opens up a world of magic while becoming his life-long friend.

Farm Crime, Season 3 (Premieres November 3)
Farm Crime is a true crime documentary series exploring the largely unseen dark side of Canada’s agriculture industry. Each episode examines a case that wouldn’t typically make the front page. Instead of kidnappings, cold cases and serial killers, the series examines the fascinating, lesser-known incidents that unfold in the margins – the fields, farms and unassuming small towns that dot the Canadian countryside.
Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love (Premieres November 3)
From acclaimed documentary filmmaker Nick Broomfield (Kurt & Courtney, Battle for Haditha), Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love is an in-depth look at the relationship between the late musician Leonard Cohen and his Norwegian muse Marianne Ihlen.
I Hate People, People Hate Me (Premieres November 7)
Perpetually disturbed by the world around them, two friends navigate their lives as outliers in Toronto's queer community. This offbeat comedy explores queer identity in a time when queerness has not only been mainstreamed, but commodified. Creator and writer Bobbi Summers poses the question - who wants to fit in with society anyway? The series stars Summers and Lily Kazimiera and is produced by LoCo Motion Pictures with Lauren Corber, Evan Dell'Aquila, and Lisa Filipelli serving as executive producers.
Blackberry (Premieres November 9)
Blackberry follows the story of Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, the two men who charted the course of the spectacular rise and catastrophic demise of the world’s first smartphone. Seemingly overnight, the duo revolutionized the way people work, communicate and connect, with millions of people around the world addicted to their Blackberrys and the company completely dominating the market. That is, until some shady business dealings, personal grievances, and, perhaps most dangerously, the iPhone, devastated the company’s incredible success.

Sort Of, Season 3 (Premieres November 17)
The third and final season shows Sabi Mehboob (co-creator Bilal Baig) coming to terms with feelings of grief and an unexpected sense of freedom following the death of their father. Without the constraints of living up to their father’s expectations Sabi confronts big questions about their identity, prompting some massive life choices. In a season that has the entire ensemble grappling with aftermaths, a rebirth comes in a sort of messy, sort of hopeful, sort of Sort Of way.
Swan Song (Premieres November 22)
Swan Song is an immersive, character-driven series following Karen Kain’s final year with the National Ballet of Canada, as she steps into the role of director for the first time with a monumental new production of Swan Lake. Following Kain and a diverse group of dancers from the rehearsal room to intimate moments at home to the backstage chaos of the highest-stakes opening night in the company’s 70-year history, Swan Song cuts through the pristine images projected by the world of ballet to reveal the human stories, sacrifices, conflicts and triumphs that drive the dazzling artistry.
Another Body (Premieres November 22)
Another Body is one of the most shocking documentaries of the year. Put yourself in the shoes of one university student as she discovers that her face has been pulled from her social media account and digitally altered to appear in an adult video without her consent. Determined to uncover how this happened and who the culprit is, she dives headfirst into the underground world of deepfake technology, where she discovers a society of men terrorising women—influencers, colleagues, friends.

Love Island Games (Premieres November 1)
Maya James hosts and comedian Iain Stirling narrates this brand-new Love Island format. Set in Fiji, the first season brings together fan-favorite Islanders from various Love Island series across the world – U.S., U.K., Australia, and beyond – for a second shot at love as they compete to be crowned champions of Love Island Games.
About My Father (Premieres November 3)
The film centres around Sebastian (Maniscalco) who is encouraged by his fiancée (Leslie Bibb) to bring his immigrant, hairdresser father, Salvo (De Niro), to a weekend get-together with her super-rich and exceedingly eccentric family (Kim Cattrall, Anders Holm, Brett Dier, David Rasche). The weekend develops into what can only be described as a culture clash, leaving Sebastian and Salvo to discover that the great thing about family is everything about family.
Ten Pound Poms (Premieres November 3)
In 1956 a group of Brits respond to an emigration advertisement that promises a prosperous new life in Australia for just 10 british pounds. Expecting to be exchanging rationed Britain for exotic food, white-washed houses, and sun-soaked adventures, the new migrants arrive in Sydney to find that life down under is a far cry from what they were sold.
Rap Sh!t, Season 2 (Premieres November 9)
The eight-episode season follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna and Mia, who reunite to form a rap group. In their rise to fame, Shawna and Mia find themselves at a pivotal moment in their rap career as they are forced to decide if they will stay true to themselves or conform to the demands of the music industry.
The Godfather of Harlem, Season 3 (Premieres November 10)
Season 3 of The Godfather of Harlem finds Bumpy Johnson continuing to battle for control of Harlem, with other aspirants to the throne, namely the Cuban Mafia from neighbouring Spanish Harlem. Taking on the Cuban mob will put Bumpy, his loved ones and his community in the crosshairs of not only the rival Italians, but ruthless Latin assassins and, ultimately, the CIA. The series is a collision of the criminal underworld and the civil rights movement during one of the most tumultuous times in American history.
Sisu (Premieres November 10)
During the last desperate days of WWII, a solitary prospector (Jorma Tommila) crosses paths with Nazis on a scorched-earth retreat in northern Finland. When the Nazis steal his gold, they quickly discover that they have just tangled with no ordinary miner. While there is no direct translation for the Finnish word ‘sisu’, this legendary ex-commando will embody what sisu means: a white-knuckled form of courage and unimaginable determination in the face of overwhelming odds.
Canada’s Drag Race, Season 4 (Premieres November 16)
Featuring 11 Canadian queens, the nine-episode season promises to serve more unforgettable runway looks, lip-sync slay offs, a killer snatch game, a sickening Rusical, and includes some new game-changing, competition twists that will have fans gooped and gagged. Queen of the North Brooke Lynn Hytes, celebrity stylist and TV personality Brad Goreski, and ETALK senior correspondent Traci Melchor return as resident judges, and are once again joined by guest judges and special guests throughout the season.
Julia, Season 2 (Premieres November 16)
Julia is inspired by Julia Child’s extraordinary life and her long-running television series, “The French Chef,” which pioneered the modern cooking show. Through Julia’s life and her singular joie de vivre, the series explores a pivotal time in American history – the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism, and the women’s movement, the nature of celebrity and America’s cultural evolution. At its heart, the series is a portrait of a loving marriage with a shifting power dynamic.
No Hard Feelings (Premieres November 24)
Maddie (Jennifer Lawrence) thinks she’s found the answer to her financial troubles when she discovers an intriguing job listing: wealthy helicopter parents looking for someone to “date” their introverted 19-year-old son, Percy, and bring him out of his shell before he leaves for college. But awkward Percy proves to be more of a challenge than she expected, and time is running out before she loses it all.
Bookie (Premieres November 30)
Bookie is a darkly funny comedy that follows veteran Los Angeles bookie Danny (Sebastian Maniscalco) as the potential legalization of sports gambling in California threatens to upend his business for good. Alongside best friend and former NFL player Ray (Omar J. Dorsey), side-hustling sister Lorraine (Vanessa Ferlito), and reluctantly reformed drug dealer Hector (Jorge Garcia), Danny must contend with his increasingly unstable clients as he tries to settle their debts – all while making plenty of risky bets of his own.
Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays, Season 5 (Premieres November 30)
Gomez is at the top of her game as a musical artist, actor, businesswoman, and philanthropist, but she calls in the experts to help amp up her kitchen skills for the holidays. This year she has invited all-star chefs Eric Adjepong, Alex Guarnaschelli, Michael Symon, and Claudette Zepeda to bring their favorite dishes and culinary wisdom to her home kitchen so they can cook up perfect holiday meals to share with friends and family.

Black Cake (Premieres November 1)
Based on the New York Times-bestselling book by Charmaine Wilkerson, Black Cake is a family drama wrapped in a murder mystery with a diverse cast of characters and a global setting. The story takes place in Jamaica, Italy, Scotland, England and Southern California. In the late 1960s, a runaway bride named Covey disappears into the surf off the coast of Jamaica and is feared drowned or a fugitive on the run for her husband’s murder. In present day California, a widow named Eleanor Bennett, loses her battle with cancer, leaving her two estranged children, Byron and Benny, a flash drive that holds previously untold stories of her journey from the Caribbean to America. These stories, narrated by Eleanor, shock her children and challenge everything they thought they knew about their family’s origin.
Quiz Lady (Premieres November 3)
In Quiz Lady, a brilliant but tightly wound, game show-obsessed young woman, Anne (Awkwafina), and her estranged, train-wreck of a sister Jenny (Sandra Oh), must work together to help cover their mother’s gambling debts. When Anne’s beloved dog is kidnapped, they set out on a wild, cross-country trek to get the cash the only way they know how: by turning Anne into a bona-fide game show champion.
The Santa Clauses, Season 2 (Premieres November 8)

A Murder at the End of the World (Premieres November 14)
A Murder at the End of the World is a mystery series with a new kind of detective at the helm – a Gen Z amateur sleuth and tech-savvy hacker named Darby Hart (Emma Corrin). In the new limited series, Darby and eight other guests are invited by a reclusive billionaire (Clive Owen) to participate in a retreat at a remote and dazzling location. When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must put to use all of her combined skills to prove it was in fact murder, all against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life.
Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story (Premieres November 15)
The story of how Ross Brawn, in 2009, competing in the most expensive and technologically advanced racing series, made the impossible happen; his understaffed, underfinanced and independent team won the World Championship.
Drive with Swizz Beats (Premieres November 16)
Drive with Swizz Beatz features the 44-year-old and his son, Nasir Dean (also known as Note Mercato) visiting various destinations and learning about the area’s distinctive car culture. The duo brings together two otherwise disparate car clubs over a shared love of all things automotive and an appreciation for what it’s like to beat the odds through sheer drive alone.
The Great Christmas Light Fight, Season 10 (Premieres November 22)
Carter Oosterhouse and Taniya Nayak judge elaborate Christmas displays created by families across the country. Each episode features the holiday home transformations of four families that were selected through a nationwide search based on past elaborate Christmas light displays, choreography, and extravagant designs as they compete to deck their homes out in the ultimate show of Christmas spirit.
